Autonomic is putting a new spin on a few old favorites. The company just announced plans to upgrade the Mirage Media Server MMS-2 (pictured right), as well as the MMS-5 (below).

The MMS-2 can now be had in a sleeker, more compact form factor. However, it doesn’t just mean a prettier package. The MMS-2 now offers a faster processor, as well as Toslink and HDMI outputs.

Autonomic says that the MMS-2 is perfect for consumers “looking to converge content for multi-room distribution while gaining global access to their audio collections by leveraging cloud synchronization services.”

Other new features include support for Amazon Cloud, as well as MP3 Tunes and iCloud compatibility. The company is also working with Savant to get the system integrated into more control and automation environments.

With an MSRP of $1995, the MMS-2 also works with modules from AMX, Control4, Crestron, RTI, URC, iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch.

If you’re a 5 fan, the MMS-5 also has a few updates. First of all, it will now be available in two versions: the MMS-5A is for audio only, while the MMS-5AV features both audio and video capability. That MMS-5AV can also support iTunes video playback. All existing MMS-5 servers can also adapt to this new functionality. However, the new MMS-5A and MMS-5AV servers are expected to start shipping sometime in Q4 2011.
