Autonomic Introduces Cloud-Based Mirage Media Server
Thanks to cloud-based storage and iPad control, the MMS-2 can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

An iPod is nice, but can it hold every music track, video and photo you own? Well, maybe… if the formats are compatible. However, the new Mirage Media Server (MMS-2) features slightly more storage, as well as streaming from Pandora, RadioTime and SiriusXM Internet Radio. Oh, and it’s just as portable.

Autonomic Controls just announced the MMS-2, which is the company’s latest and smallest cloud-based media server. Featuring 500GB and Autonomic’s cloud service as the system’s backbone, the MMS-2 can stream digital collections across the globe via Wi-Fi or 3G/4G mobile devices.

Once you load songs, the MMS-2 automatically puts those tracks into that mix, which the user can access anywhere in the world. It also puts them into a private Internet data locker, so you won’t have to worry about losing files.

Because of its slim form factor, the MMS-2 is perfect for smaller spaces, such as a second home or even just an equipment closet. It can also be paired with the five-source Mirage Media Server (MMS-5). Other features include one 5.1 digital output and one analog output, as well as a video output for photos and displaying metadata. The system can also be integrated with Crestron, AMX, URC, RTI and other IP-based control systems, as well as Apple’s iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

Autonomic says that Rhapsody and will be added into the mix this June. In the meantime, you can start stockpiling your own content. The MMS-2 is available now through authorized dealers for $1,995 (MSRP). The Mirage Media Controller (MMC) for iPad app is available from the iTunes App Store for $49.99. A version for the iPhone and iPod Touch can also be had for $19.99.
