Auralex Acoustics’ SpaceArray Diffusor
Sound control solution provider Auralex Acoustics, Inc., has announced that its wooden SpaceArray Diffusor recently passed the requirements of a “Class B” fire-rating, so homeowners are ensured of safety in their acoustical treatment if they live in areas with strict fire code requirements.
Auralex’s SpaceArray successfully passed testing in accordance with ASTM E84, a standard test for surface burning characteristics of building materials, the company reports. The test calculates both flame spread and smoke densities. Also, Auralex adds, the SpaceArray recently passed acoustical testing in accordance with ISO 17497-1, a standard test method for sound scattering and sound scattering coefficients.
The SpaceArray combines hemispherical acoustical diffusion with a quality wood finish that makes it ideal for home theaters, says Auralex. Strong and lightweight, the 24 x 24-inch solid paulownia wood panels install easily and can be used in a variety of placement options, the company says.
