You might not be the owner of “the world’s greatest music collection” but you might still have boxes and boxes full of old vinyl LPs. Maybe you haven’t listened to them in a while since you’ve gone digital. But maybe there are a bunch that you can’t find on iTunes or Amazon?

We’ve seen an influx of USB turntables hit the shelves over the last year, as vinyl enthusiasts bring their hard to find jazz albums and rare issues into the digital age so they can listen through earbuds as well as their great two-channel setups. Audio-Technica can help them along with the AT-LP2D-USB turntable.

This model includes the turntable and phono cartridge, software for your PC or Mac, and the USB cable for the connection.

You’ll be able to transfer your 33-1/3 and 45 RPM records, plus 12- and 7-inch singles, as the Cakewalk PYRO (for PC) and Audacity (for Mac or PC) software guides you along the way, converting the songs to MP3s, WAV files or Windows Media Files. From there, it’s up to you how you want to listen to ‘em—on your computer, on an iPod, on a Zune.

The software has DeClicker and DeNoiser utilities so you don’t have to worry about pops, clicks and other noise and hiss from the recordings. Did you ever think you could fit your record collection in your pocket?
