Atlantic Technology’s System 6200e home theater line
They say if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, but Atlantic Technology has done some refurbishing, and re-pricing, of one of its popular speaker systems. The company has redesigned its System 6200 home theater speaker line with what it deems as improved cabinets, pared configuration options, and lower prices, while adding THX-Ultra2 certification.
The new System 6200e line loses the optional side panels and pedestal subwoofers while offering more flexible configuration options suitable to any home theater or multichannel audio installation, the company says.
The 6200e LR and 6200e C speakers feature conventional permanently attached side panels in a satin black finish, and the System 6200’s original pedestal subwoofer systems have been replaced by the company’s more traditional box-style THX Certified 642e SB subwoofers.
The 6200e LR floor-standing loudspeaker, and 6200 C horizontal center channel speakers are each two-way designs that are timbre-matched for a coherent, seamless sound stage, and each speaker includes a sophisticated set of acoustic controls to tune performance for a variety of rooms and placement options. Those include High Frequency Energy adjustment for acoustically bright or dull rooms, a Location control to compensate for the acoustic effects of a pull-down screen, and a Boundary Compensation toggle that adjusts speaker output to compensate for placement near a wall or within a cabinet, Atlantic says.
The Atlantic Technology System 6200e has been designed to integrate ideally with Atlantic’s THX Certified system 4200e dipole surround speakers for a full, rich sound field. Retail prices begin at $6,500 for a 5.1-channel system.
