Atlantic Technology’s IWTS-30 LCR in-wall loudspeaker
If you’re replacing a veteran with a rookie, it had better be a blue-chipper that’s ready to step to the plate. Atlantic Technology’s new in-wall loudspeaker, the IWTS-30 LCR, certainly looks ready to step into the role of flagship speaker model.
The company is replacing its flagship THX-certified IWTS-20 LCR after holding that spot for eight years. The new in-wall has garnered the THX Ultra2 certification and will be available in May.
The IWTS-30 LCR is meant for use as a front left, right or center channel, packing quite a punch in the midrange and tweeter thanks to a rotating and pivoting midrange-tweeter assembly, which also lets you mount the speakers vertically or horizontally.
Atlantic Technology’s Low Resonance Tweeter (LRT) technology also allows for quality off-axis listening. The combination of an 8-inch woofer and M-T-M arrangement within the three-way design of the IWTS-30 LCR provides greater versatility and sound dispersion, so any less-than-ideal positioning can still be taken advantage of.
The speaker also features three acoustic controls to further enhance the capability: a high frequency energy switch to adjust tweeter level for rooms that are acoustically bright or dull; a location toggle to adjust the mid-treble band; and a boundary compensation switch to adjust the lower-midrange output if the speaker is too close to a ceiling or side wall.
The versatile IWTS-30 LCR will have an SRP of $1,250 each for the speaker and $75 for separate GFR-626 Grille/Frame assembly, and an optional back box enclosure of $175.
