Home theater audio applications continue to be intensified—from 5.1 surround channels to 7.1, to even 9.1 these days when you add new “height” speakers, plus you can accommodate THX certified systems and the latest lossless high-def audio codecs.

Atlantic Technology tends to stay ahead of the curve—unleashing the likes of IP-ready speakers and those with THX Select2 certification—so it’s no surprise that the company has come up with three new and improved theater speaker systems, plus some new subwoofers, to get the latest and greatest into your theater.

The Massachusetts-based speaker manufacturer has unveiled its Atlantic Technology System 1400, System 2400 and THX Select-certified System 4400, which will replace the 1200, 2200 and 4200e systems, respectively. And since you’ll want to add even more low-frequency boom while you’re watching Transformers or The Dark Knight and such, Atlantic Tech’s also introduced the SB powered subwoofer line with four choices ranging from 180 to 350 watts.

For the new speakers, each series has three models—a two-way LR front-channel speaker, two-way horizontal MTM center channel and a dipole/bipole selectable surround speaker.

You can mix and match with subwoofers as you please. You can also try out the height application with the 1400 SR-Z speaker (or use it as a regular surround channel) if you’ve got a receiver with Dolby’s new ProLogic IIz technology.

Along with updated aesthetics, taking from Atlantic’s large floorstanding speaker lines, you should be hearing some finely tuned high notes with the new systems thanks to the addition of proprietary Low Resonance Tweeter in the System 1400 and 2400.

A new feature for the System 4400 is the on-wall mounting capability, so you’ve got more flexibility in your speaker placement.

Atlantic says the new systems and subs will be available in late May, ranging from $1,680 to $3,800 for the whole 5.1-channel shebang.
