Let there be light, let there be music.
Combining sound quality with aesthetics has always been a big part of speaker manufacturer Artison and acclaimed designer Cary Christie, whose offerings include on-wall and in-wall models to complement sleek flat-panel TVs.
Instead of televisions, Artison has aimed its latest project at another important part of your entertainment room and secondary rooms—the lighting. The company has partnered with Sylvania to create its MusicLites wireless light-speaker combination.
The product looks like your typical LED light, and features the technology’s efficient 10-watt luminance equal to a 65-watt reflector bulb. But it also contains a 70-millimeter speaker and wireless audio receiver module.
Audio is transmitted over a proprietary 2.4GHz wireless transceiver and is compatible with audio sources including USB, smartphone and portables.
MusicLite kits include two 3.8-by-5.3-inch modules, plus a remote to control the light (and dimmers) and audio settings. Look for MusicLites this fall. No word on pricing yet.
