There must be a better use of 1500 pages of paper, right?

That’s the approximate total of paper used in the three phone books recently delivered to my home. I got the Yellowbook, Talking Phone Book and what I think was another from Verizon. I can’t recall the official name because it went from step to trash in the matter of seconds.

Who uses these things anymore? I can Google ten phone numbers in the time it takes me to find one in a phone book.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never been a fan of the categorization. Case in point: Walmart. First I look under “Stores” - nothing. “Retailers” - nothing. A minute later I stumble on department stores -  whaddya know, there’s Walmart. You get the point.

In the effort of full disclosure, yellow pages would have come in handy when I lost power due to a massive ice storm this winter. I spent about $10 calling 411 on my cell phone as I searched for hotels/motels.

Wait a minute, there is some value to the yellow book after all. The coupon section. I get 10 percent off at the Grand Buffet.
