Archos Starts Shipping Honeycomb G9 Tablets Next Week
All versions of the new G9 family will feature the Android Honeycomb 3.2 OS.

Have you snagged a tablet yet? Soon, you’ll have even more options—cheaper options. Archos is planning to unleash its new G9 series next week, which comes packing the Honeycomb 3.2 operating system and a starting price of $299.

The G9 series will launch with the 8-inch Archos 80 G9, which features 8GB of storage for $299. Archos plans to sell this model direct starting September 20. After 10 days of exclusivity, the 80 G9 will be be available through other retailers, such as Amazon, Newegg, Tiger Direct, and more.

If you’re patient and in need of more power, four additional G9 models will start selling next month. The 16GB Archos 80 G9 will be $329, with a 250GB model going for $369. There will also be two 10.1-inch models. The Archos 101 G9 tablet will be priced at $399 for the 16GB version, with 250GB costing $469.

Those 250GB models have an actual hard drive inside. The other versions use flash storage.

The base model has a 1GHz Arm Cortex A9 dual-core processor, with the rest falling under the “Turbo” umbrella, with the OMAP 4 dual-core processor at 1.5GHz.

The 8-inch models will have a 1024 x 768 resolution, with a 1280 x 800 image for the 10-inchers. Other features across the board includes access to the Android Market, GPS, built-in speakers and a built-in microphone, as well as the full array of Google mobile apps, such as Google Talk with video chat, Gmail, Youtube, Google Maps with Street View and Navigation (beta) and Google Calendar.

A specific date for the October models has yet to be announced.
