Got any big plans on Friday night? Want to do a little pre-partying with some Apple employees?
Steve Jobs wants you to head to the Apple retail stores this Friday, Oct. 26, to get a hands-on experience with the new Mac OS X v.10.5 Leopard (which he also hopes you’re pre-ordering right now on www.apple.com).
The operating system update includes 300 new features, with improvements such as a gorgeous purple starry desktop background, the ability to browse your files right in Finder, and Time Machine automatic back-up.
So party on from 6 to 10 p.m. at your nearest Apple store and check out live demos and maybe get a free T-shirt. Man, is Apple hip or what?

seriously? well, not to rub it in, but i have 8 apple stores within an hours drive (boston). on the other hand, i have to deal with MA drivers to get to any of them…
What do you know, no Apple Store in Kansas. Well, I guess that goes for about everything else.
No hating at all ... Apple does launches better than anyone, which is why events like this even make news.
Wow, why the hating on Leopard? What’s wrong with a launch party? It isn’t like Apple is the only company that does this kind of thing…

Oh, The Apple Store… Apple does some things pretty well… but I do not like their stores. They look awesome--the NYC store is a work of art. But there are so many things that drive me nuts. First-off the genius bar! what a joke… They make you wait to see someone to help you buy to wait again to purchase. The Geniuses I have encountered have mostly been pompous #####. And while I am at it… it would be nice to be able to quickly get in and out… like any other store… but at the Apple store it is an excercise in patience and waiting. Maybe they need to have a take-a-number thing… and a cash register or someplace to go to when you actually find your widget would be nice. The stores are actually counter-intuitive… yes, I always got to the very BACK of the store to check out… nice. I try to do as little as possible at the Apple store--it’s best to buy online… but then I have issues with the online store too! Like when you buy something which is available, only to get a message after you purchased it saying that it will be 10 days ‘til shipping… argh! But really, I do like Apple.
