The question has been on people’s minds since we got a glimpse in January: Can Apple’s iPhone do to the cellular phone industry what the company’s iPod has done to the music industry, namely have evolutionary impact?
At least now we’ve found out when we will be seeing much more of the iPhone. Apple debuted three ads (yes, they’re very cool and can be seen on the company’s web site) on Sunday night announcing June 29 as the U.S. launch date for the iPhone.
The iPhone will be available with either 4-GB or 8-GB of flash memory for all that digital storage of music, movies and photos that makes it virtually part iPod part phone. Pricing will be $500 and $600, respectively. AT&T is providing exclusive provider rights to the cellular service.
