When it comes to customer service, it appears that Apple is king.
“Consumer Reports” (via Macworld) says that Apple ranks number one when it comes to computer support. They scored an 80-percent success rate, which is high in the land of high-tech. The in-store Genius Bar got props as well, for delivering solutions 90 percent of the time. They also claim that Apple’s extended warranty is an exception to the rule, making it worth your hard-earned cash.
Out of a possible score of 100, the manufacturer scored an 83 for laptops and an 81 for desktop service. Lenovo took the second spot for laptops, with Dell getting the same slot in the desktop category. HP, Gateway, Toshiba and Sony were also featured in the results.
The report includes over 10,000 notebook and desktop owners who sought out support between September 2006 and January 2008. All of the specifics are in listed in the June 2008 issue of “Consumer Reports.”
