Western Digital doesn’t seem to be slacking in the post-holiday haze. The company just announced WD TV Remote, a free app that allows users to control a Western Digital set-top box via Android or iOS devices over Wi-Fi.
The company first released the WD TV Remote to Apple users, and followed up recently with an Android version.
The free app allows WD TV users to control the box and compatible content from anywhere within the reach of your home’s wireless network. That includes one-touch access to online services available on the device, as well as keyboard entry. There’s also a the gesture pad for quick and easy navigation.
Both apps also allow users to connect multiple mobile devices, which is a nice perk if you want to play games through the WD TV.
Just an FYI: This app only works with the WD TV Live Hub media center or third-gen WD TV Live streaming media player. You’re also going to need an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad with iOS 4.0 or later for the iTunes version, or an Android device with 2.1 and up.
