Since no two home theater rooms are alike, and since it’s difficult to attain absolute ideal conditions for watching movies and listening to music, more manufacturers are incorporating technologies in their A/V components to overcome this.

Case in point: the Auto Room Correction System (model ARC-1) from Anthem for its already high-performing gear.

This new addition to the Anthem Statement D2 digital audio/video processor automatically adjusts loudspeakers’ tonal balance to compensate for dead spots and other acoustical problems in media rooms and theaters. Test signals are played and picked up by an individually calibrated microphone, and speakers are put through full frequency sweeps to figure out problem areas.

The ARC system can be used for any incoming audio signal and adjust speakers accordingly without compromising the audio’s bit rate.

ARC technology includes a set-up wizard, choice of auto or user mode, an interface that displays measurements for advanced users, Infinite Impulse Response Filters to prevent delay that would affect lip-sync and video game play, and PC backup.

The Anthem Statement D2 with ARC carries an MSRP of $7,499, while the add on for existing Statement processors is $399.
