AMX Squeezes Alero Power Audio Amplifier into 1RU
The new ALR-AMP-8 boasts ICEpower and 16 distribution channels of audiophile-quality sound.

The Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) show just wrapped up in Amsterdam. AMX was one of the many companies there, showing off its newly launched Alero Power Amplifier for whole-house audio systems.

Also known as the ALR-AMP-8, the multiroom distributed audio amp promises stellar sound quality, thanks to ICEpower audio technology. ICEpower is a subsidiary of Bang & Olufsen, so that should tell you something about the quality, as well as the design.

However, the real hook is that the Alero has a single rack unit (1RU) height, which makes several design options possible. Besides being able to squeeze this slim unit into crowded spaces, because it’s just 1RU high, it actually leaves plenty of space for other AV essentials.

Designed to be a complement to the AMX Precis DSP, the Alero’s slim chassis packs in 16 distribution channels to provide audio in up to eight zones. Other features include heat-dissipating Class D power amplification and 40 watts per channel at 8 ohms (160 watts at 8 ohms bridged).

AMX will be shipping the Alero sometime this quarter. Contact your local AMX dealer for pricing and additional information.
