Hoping to take a chunk of business away from GameStop, Amazon.com is launching a new video game trade-in program.

Here’s how it works; mail Amazon (shipping is free) your used games and get store credit in return.

For the first two weeks of the program, you also get a 10 percent bonus if you purchase something from Amazon’s video games store.

While the Amazon venture may be more convenient (online as opposed to in-store), some gamers believe Amazon will struggle because it doesn’t have GameStop’s vast inventory.

I’m guessing it will depend on just how much Amazon is willing to pay for games. According to report on CNET, Amazon offered $2-3 more per game than GameStop and Game Crazy.

Toys-R-Us recently debuted a similar pilot program in a handful of stores throughout the U.S.
