According to Amana, I’m patient and relaxed, good with children and stupid people and at untying knots. I also seek to minimize conflict by remaining non-committal about everything except putting mayo on French fries. Wait. There’s more. Others are attracted to my seemingly genuine interest in their lives, not realizing that I’ve mastered the art of sleeping with my eyes open.

I’ve got to admit, for an appliance manufacturer, Amana’s got me pegged. How did this maker of refrigerators, dishwashers and stoves gain such a keen insight into my personality? Believe it or not, it was by the Brown Brocade (image below) I chose as my favorite color and pattern for a refrigerator on a “How Colorful is Your Personality Quiz”. There were lots of other interesting palette choices on the site, like blue corduroy, green tea, striped, and polka-dots, to name a few.

Why the focus on color? According to Monica Teague, senior manager of public relations for Whirlpool mass brands, Amana is polling consumers to determine which colors to launch first its upcoming Shades of Amana concept line of refrigerators.

Based on current consumer response, Midnight Blue and Green Tea garnered the most support, and will launch this summer at a suggested retail price of $799. The poll will be online through November.
