We’re seeing more easy options for home control these days. A company named Link Your Things is hoping to stand out by using the power of Android inside its ALYT (Affordably Link Your Things) Smart Home Manager.
The product is a hub for home security, energy management, AV, control, and whatever else you want to throw at it—literally. That’s because it has Android inside, so it should be able to work with a slew of third-party apps and products. The company has even made the ALYT open source, in an effort to encourage new features and apps from different developers.
Designed with the do-it-yourselfer in mind, ALYT works with Android and/or iOS smartphones and tablets. According to the video below, it also has all sorts of other perks, including voice control and support for Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, ZigBee, 3.5G Cellular, Infrared and DLNA.
The one thing ALYT seems to be lacking is funding, which is probably why the company has launched an Indiegogo campaign. If the company raises $100K by its June 7 deadline, we should expect to see ALYT shipping sometime this fall. In the near future, the company also plans to launch the “ALYT store,” a one-stop shop for new apps and features.
“We believe in an open, boundless world, and that’s why our product is the first Smart Home Manager powered by Android,” Luca Gaetano Capula, founder and CEO of Link Your Things. “Since Android is open and runs inside the unit, thousands of developers will be able to help us improve consumers’ lives at home. We decided to make even our hardware design open so that developers and manufacturers can innovate using ALYT as a solid base.”
To secure the ALYT Smart Home Manager, head over to Indiegogo and make a minimum pledge of $149.
