If you think your kids are just text messaging and chatting away innocently to friends, well—think again. Being that most cell phones function as a mini computer these days, they are just as susceptible to the creepy crawlers that want your kids over your home’s web connection.
Alltel Wireless is taking on the bad guys with Alltel Parental Controls, a new wireless application designed for filtering out the funk on your kid’s mobile phone.
Your children may be chatting up some serious charges, but this software won’t cost subscribers a dime. It’s based on Bytemobile’s Unison ACCESS Mobile content filtering solution, which flags sites that may be inappropriate for all ages. Questionable content includes sites with pornography, gambling, weapons and violence.
New sites are being checked out every day via the RuleSpace content filtering database.
Alltel Parental Controls will be available free of charge to Alltel customers beginning in February 2008.
