Disney has just announced a release date for Alice in Wonderland on Blu-ray. Sadly, they are skipping the whole 3D part.

Following in the footsteps of Avatar and its lack of 3D-ness upon initial Blu-ray release, Disney is rushing this one to the shelves, but without any 3D goodness. The 3-disc combo pack will be released on June 1, 2010, packing in the Blu-ray, a standard-def DVD and a digital copy of the movie.

Disney says that this Alice is the studio’s fourth biggest film of all time, raking in almost $800 million. Apparently, they want to squeeze a few more bucks out of everyone, because I’m guessing there will be a double-dip at some point.

Aside from the combo pack, the Blu-ray will also come in a single-disc version. Both will include nine bonus features.

Tim Burton’s retelling of Alice in Wonderland stars Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Sheen and Crispin Glover. The film’s opening weekend was the highest-grossing non-sequel opening ever, as well as the biggest 3D opening and IMAX opening. So yeah—it would make sense that a 3D version should be coming at some point.

If you want the 3D experience, Alice is still playing in 3D theaters everywhere. Otherwise, the 3-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack of Alice in Wonderland will retail for $44.99, with the single disc Blu-ray going for $39.99. The single-disc standard DVD will cost $29.99.
