When is a security system more than just a security system?

When the original installation team can’t quite handle the task, and the custom electronics pros who come to the rescue are able to provide assurance, as well as the reliance to add other systems to the job.

That’s what these homeowners found out, when the original mess of project didn’t quite work out, and the folks at Frisco, Texas-based Automation Integration took over and managed to get the alarm system to succeed as well as add goodies like the lighting , audio and video.

“This was a very difficult project from the start,” says Automation Integration’s Eric Becker. “We were originally contacted to simply provide some HAI (Home Automation Inc.) parts the original alarm install was unable to obtain. The original dealer was extremely in over there head. When the homeowner contacted us about possibly providing more than just the alarm and we did our first walk through it was quite a sight to see. At this point the homeowner was afraid they would never be able to even move into there home or even be able to watch TV.”

Thanks to the poor planning it had to deal with fixing, Automation Integration removed what was installed, and then needed to get creative in product selection (see equipment list below), Becker says, without having to completely rewire the house and start from scratch.

The overall systems consists of a base HAI OmniProII system with HAI lighting, RTI controls, an M&S Audio system, Samsung TVs, Polk Audio speakers and a MediaMax Media server.

“This project consists of 16 rooms of video, complete automation of all aspects including lighting, pool, sprinklers, gate, and security,” he notes. “By use of the HAI platform as the core item we are able to provide many automated events through the home. One main item the owners are thrilled about Is the voice annunciation of doors being open, as well as visitors approaching the home via the driveway.”
