Audio Design Associates is jumping on the touchscreen bandwagon, with its new TS-8611.

The unit promises complete audio/video control from one 240 x 320-pixel TFT LCD display. All users have to do is swipe or press corresponding graphic icons. It also has what the company calls “creature comforts”—tone controls, an alarm clock, sleep timer, dimming, and the ability to control other rooms.

ADA says that the touchscreen doesn’t need a special enclosure; it should squeeze into a standard single-gang box and connect with one Cat5 cable.

The TS-8611 is compatible with ADA’s Suite 16, Suite 8x8, Suite 8200 and SWAN distributed audio systems. Once you tap into a component, whether its an iPod, a music server, an ADA tuner, or other piece, users can surf channels, genres, artists, etc.—and get up to five lines of text on the display.

However, the most exciting thing about this product is its price tag: $699.

The TS-8611 will start shipping this month.
