It’s easy to tell the kids to share toys. When it comes to you, a temper tantrum could easily ensue. Sharing A/V equipment between rooms isn’t easy. However, it could be, with Actiontec’s MyWirelessTV.
This nifty new setup allows users to stream wireless HDMI over Wi-Fi. It should be the next best thing to having your setup hardwired, as Actiontec claims that it can provide a Blu-ray-quality transmission to anywhere in the house.
Inside the MyWirelessTV kit, there’s a wireless HDMI transmitter and a receiver. Hook any HDMI device, such as a PS3, a Blu-ray player, etc., into the transmitter, hook the receiver into your HDTV, and you can share your wealth of audio and video in other areas of the house.
Now comes the kicker: Actiontec says that MyWirelessTV will support full 3D HD video over Wi-Fi. That means you can use one Blu-ray 3D player to provide content to every 3D TV in the house.
Of course, it’s great for 2D setups as well, providing movies, pictures, and games to other areas of the house. As long as the source can connect via HDMI, you can stream to other areas.
“With more devices and HD displays located throughout homes today, consumers desperately need wireless connectivity. For most consumers, content is often locked to an individual device or room,” said Dean Chang, president and CEO at Actiontec Electronics. “With MyWirelessTV, consumers can finally stream high-definition content to any device in any room, without the clutter of wires, and without having to sacrifice performance or content quality.”
MyWirelessTV is expected to ship in the second quarter of 2011. Actiontec has yet to announce cost, but says that it will be “priced for the everyday consumer.”
