Everyone is throwing a hat into the AirPlay ring. Acoustic Research is adding its name to the list of options with the newly announced AirPlay Audio System (model ARAP50).

The AirPlay Audio System is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a speaker that uses Apple’s AirPlay technology to stream and control music from almost any Apple device—via your home’s WiFi network.

Another AirPlay bonus is that it allows for streaming of a user’s iTunes playlist.

It’s also insanely easy to use. Just plug the speaker into any outlet, connect it to your home’s wireless network, and download the app to your portable of choice. That’s about it. No dongles or other add-ons are needed.

If you’re looking to create a whole-house audio setup, the ARAP50 can do that, too. The ARAP50 is designed so you can link up several units throughout the house for music in every room, all controlled through an iPad, iPod touch or iPhone.

Acoustic Research says that the ARAP50 will be available in the spring. Expect the product to be listed with an MSRP of $199.99.
