7 New Blu-ray Players at CES 2009
We round up 7 Blu-ray players that were unveiled at CES 2009 in Las Vegas.
January 13, 2009 | by Steve Crowe

After a drama-free press conference at CES 2009, it’s apparent that the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) is focused on getting the format through this tough economy.

And it appears several manufacturers are on board to help. The BDA says the dropping prices of Blu-ray players has helped and will continue to help the format’s adoption.

“Low end pricing will go lower,” says Richard Doherty, Envisioneering, a panel member at the BDA press conference.

Vizio has entered the Blu-ray market with its VBR100, a player that costs under $200. Several new innovations may also help. Samsung unveiled what it believes to be the first wall-mountable Blu-ray player, and LG added the BD390 to its list of network Blu-ray players that stream Netflix.

The BDA says 11 Profile 2.0 players were unveiled at the show. There were only 9 models on the market prior to the show, according to the BDA.

The following are just a sample of the Blu-ray players that were introduced at CES 2009 in Las Vegas.

Did Sony have there new 400 Disc Blu-Ray Changer displayed? If so, what were your impressions?  Did they have the suggested retail price and when it might be available?
Thanks
Bill
