If you live in a hot or dry climate—or nearly any climate today—it makes a lot of sense to save water. In fact, 36 states expect to face water shortages by 2013, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and much of the United States has been abnormally dry this year.

Unless you have your own well, saving water will save on your water bills. And if you do use a private well or other source of water, some simple and high-tech conservation methods can help you save both that water—and the energy needed to pump it into your home and to heat it.
