So you’ve bought a beautiful flat-panel TV—be it a plasma or LCD—and you want to mount it on the wall, of course, so you and guests can stare in awe of it. And to make your room look great, too.

But you also want to appeal to your design sense (or maybe your wife’s), so you can’t just have any old tower speaker flank the TV as part of a 5.1 surround system. You need something with a bit more flair, and something that will even save some floor space. We’re talking flat-panel or on-wall loudspeakers in this case.

We asked the trusted folks over on the AVS Forum for some suggestions as part of our “AVS Recommends” series to get you prepped for some holiday gift ideas (we started the series with A/V receivers under $1K).

They offered an array of choices that deliver dynamic sound, great imaging, easy installation, and in most cases are head-turners in the looks department. We chose seven examples for you to peruse—these aren’t in any order of top vote getters. Sorry, not all of these are new, so you might have to dig around for pricing—we’re listing them with results from Google Shopping (not including eBay) or the MSRP, if there aren’t Google Shopping results, to give you an idea.
