“The Ultimate Matrix Collection” will include all three movies, a digital copy, and 35 hours of extras.
While some of you aren’t quite sold on the extras included in your Blu-ray releases, Warner Bros. plans to mesmerize some with its “Ultimate Matrix Collection.”
Just announced, this set will include all three movies, in Blu-ray with lossless high definition 5.1 audio (Dolby TrueHD). You’d also better pencil in a weekend where you can close yourself off from the world; each of the flicks has hours of extras. That includes “The Animatrix,” a 9-part anime film, which is set in the fictional world inside “The Matrix.” The announcement says that three additional discs will feature 35 hours of other features, as well as a digital copy of “The Matrix,” which can be used on Windows Media or iPod portables.
The set was previously released on DVD and HD DVD. The HD DVD version was $10 cheaper, but it didn’t include the digital copy. Warner Bros. hasn’t released all of the details on the new set, but it looks identical. What took them so long?
Expect the 7-disc collection to set you back $130. “The Ultimate Matrix Collection” will be available on Blu-ray starting October 14.
