If you’ve got DIRECTV and a 3D TV, you probably have more 3D content than the rest of us. That’s because 3net is currently a DIRECTV exclusive. Now, the joint venture from Sony, Discovery and IMAX just announced a slew of upcoming program choices.
Coming this month, 3net will debut Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Hubble 3D, and the travelogue series World Cities 3D. According to Tom Cosgrove, 3net’s present and CEO, the network is also planning to introduce three all-new original programs.
First up will be The Ancient Life, which premieres this Sunday, October 9. Host Brit Eaton will travel alongside specially trained stereographers in this lost civilization series. Viewers are expected to get a glimpse of what it’s like to stand before the Pyramid of Cheops or walk through the haunted landscape of Pompeii. There will be a total of six hour-long episodes for this series.
On October 13, the network will debut the first 3D coverage of the Indianapolis 500, with Indy 500: The Inside Line. This one-hour special promises in-depth coverage of the event’s 100th anniversary, through the eyes of drivers Tony Kanaan, Helio Castroneves, Simona de Silvestro, Will Power and more.
Last, but certainly most scary, will be Scary Tales. Arriving just in time for a frightfully good Halloween, the network says that this scripted series is “a place where cannibals feast, kidnappers terrorize and fiends lurk behind every tree.” Creepy! Expect the hour-long, four-episode series to kick off on Sunday, October 30.
If you have DIRECTV, the 3net network can be found on channel 107.
