Unlike the automotive and lending industries, President Obama and Congress will probably never look to bail out the consumer electronics industry.

But the industry has been proactive with its own stimulus plan: new technologies to excite consumer spending.

Consumers can look at the evolution of the flat-panel TV market in two ways: the products are more affordable, and they are more eco-friendly.

Leading the way are new technologies like light emitting diode (LED) and organic light emitting diode (OLED). These join the market’s traditional technologies — plasma and LCD — to provide consumers with a growing choice of products.

We’ve rounded up some of the latest flat-panel TVs to hit the market.

What a sad lineup of TV’s!

The Pioneer Elite is officially out of stock now and I cannot say I would want to own a single one of these TV’s on this list.  I am not counting the Runco as a TV.

The limited range of quality TV’s available is very sad.  It is like going car shopping and the highest end dealer is Toyota.  Some of us want better!
