17 Scary Blu-rays for Halloween
Looking for a high-definition movie marathon this weekend? Here are our picks for the scariest movies available on Blu-ray Disc.
October 30, 2009 | by EH Staff

It’s always fun to curl up on the couch with that leftover candy and pop in a few movies over Halloween weekend. This year the scary night is even on a Saturday, so you don’t have to worry about getting up early the next morning (plus there’s that extra hour of setting the clock back).

Of course it’s even more entertaining when you’ve got a big-screen TV or dark dedicated theater to help secure a fright-inducing environment.

What else helps? We think high definition is obviously the way to go for big-screen entertainment, so you can really see those blood-curdling details as the director meant you to.

We turned to EH’s resident horror movie expert Manuela Rosengard for her favorite goosebumpy flicks, and she provided everything from silent-movie classics to titles you’ve seen dozens of times to favorites from this decade.

Thankfully there are many you can find in high-def Blu-ray, bound to keep you on the edge of your seat, and we’ve compiled 17 of them for you to view in a slideshow here.

Unfortunately there are loads of scary movies not available in the Blu-ray format yet—so click here to view our list of 16 Scary DVDs We’re Waiting for on Blu-ray too.

As always, you’re trick-or-treat movie recommendations are welcomed in the comments area.
