My first Black Friday expedition was a memorable one. I was 14 and tagging along with my brother, who was out to grab a $600 computer (a blazing fast Pentium II with 17” CRT). I came out of the store with a handful of $6 DVDs including gems such as Titanic, Armageddon, and (a guilty pleasure) Young Guns. I’d just built my first computer and it happened to have a DVD drive that I was itching to test out.
Ever since, there’s not been a Black Friday pass by that I haven’t stocked up on at least a few cheap discs. Being cheap and a Netflix devotee, it’s about the only time I buy physical media anymore. Starting last year, my Black Friday disc hunts have been all about Blu-ray.
But in the vein of Beat Black Friday deals, there are plenty of great ones on Blu-ray discs to be had without leaving the comfort of your own home. Amazon currently has a laundry list of cheap Blu-ray titles, including several recent blockbuster releases, some great demo/reference discs, and quite a few you may want consider for replacing an aging DVD transfer. All of these qualify for free Super Saver shipping on orders over $25. There are seven pages to browse, and below are my own personal highlights:
Ronin - $8.99
Quantum of Solace - $9.99
2001: A Space Odyssey - $9.49
Live Free Or Die Hard - $8.99
Spaceballs - $8.99
Silence of the Lambs - $8.99
The Departed - $10.99
Batman Begins - $11.49
Dark City (Director’s Cut) - $9.99
Ocean’s 11 - $9.99
Traitor - $9.99
