SmartLabs, parent company of SmartHome and maker of Insteon home automation products, have named their "Smartest Home in America," with the award going to Mesa, Arizona's Cory Gransee.
Gransee began his home automation journey simply looking for a device to replace an unreliable timer to turn off and on lights.
"I was able to replace that unreliable timer with a switch that turns itself on or off based upon sunrise and sunset times and even keeps itself off during the day and on during the night when accidentally bumped," he says.
Now, Gransee's automation system includes lights, fans, security, garage door, windows and televisions, many of which he can control through his TiVo. -- Jason Unger
