After taunting us with a 21-inch high-definition display, Twice says that Gateway is coming out with a cheaper 19-inch widescreen LCD display -- and in this case, smaller might actually be better.
For under $300, the FPD1975W boasts a high resolution and contrast ratio, High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) support and better color reproduction. This isn't just some geek speak; it's necessary to view new high-def content which will be coming soon to a Microsoft Windows Vista machine near you.
While I am all for improvements, there's no denying that the slick, slim unit it easy to incorporate into any room in the house -- because of it size and price tag.
Gateway is also planning additional HD widescreen LCDs later this year, with more coming in 2007. -- Rachel Cericola
