What technologies will grace the electronic house in 2010 and beyond?

The answer may lie in the recent i-stage awards presented by the Consumer Electronics Association, which honored more than a dozen early-stage developers for their technological innovations.

The i-stage 2009 winner and finalists, many of which will be featured at the Consumer Electronics Show 2010 in January, portend the near future of consumer technology.

Last year’s i-stage winner was Boxee, the content aggregator that gained a strong following in 2010.

Boxee was perhaps the first company to combine IP-based video from Hulu, CBS, Joost, Netflix, YouTube and scores of other content providers in a single user interface.

The first version of Boxee is an application that runs on a PC or Mac. Up next for the 2008 i-stage winner: a dedicated Boxee box and a universal search function that takes the burden out of hunting down your favorite shows.

If you’re wondering what’s going on with Boxee, we have the latest.
