Well, we’ve had some recommendations on plasmas and LCD flat-panel TVs, but what we really want now is to delve into the true home theater—you know, the kind that centers on a big screen and a projector combination.
Where to begin? High-definition prices on 720p resolution projectors are dropping, and even some 1080p models are becoming affordable these days.
We asked the theater buffs over at AVS Forum to help out with suggestions for projectors under $2,000 as the latest category in our “AVS Recommends” series, and they came back with some common names that are sure to do any theater proud.
The budget projector AVSers heart the most? That would be the rock-solid Panasonic PT-AX200U—proof that 720p is still a fine way to go for home theater viewing on the big screen. Of course, if you are looking for 1080p under $2K, it can be had, as shown by a few manufacturers.
Along with comments from forum members and projector features, we’re including pricing from our friends at ProjectorPeople for almost all models (or otherwise best available we’ve found), since it’s a consummate one-stop shop (and featured on AVS Forum’s home page as well)—you may have to click for the price or add it to your cart for the current price if it’s on sale.
